Jobs in Aviation Industry

I would like to share my perspective about the jobs in the aviation industry.

I am using the video “Aviation Open House” produced by CAAS, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. Click on the video and see the different sectors of the industry.

The followings are the various sectors of careers:

1. Airlines – Probably the largest of the sectors and contain the most variety of the jobs. The jobs includes the technical areas such as Pilots and Engineers, Customers Services such as Cabin Crews and passengers handling, business and sales and marketing.

2. Air Cargo and Logistics – The sector was part of the major airlines, however due to its growing size and importance, the air cargo sector is managed separately from the airlines.

3. Airport Management and Services – Airport is the meeting points between the aircraft and the passengers. An airport has to meet the technical and operational requirements f the aircraft, such as the runway and taxiway requirements, the navigation and traffic requirements and parking and docking needs.
Airports normally derive their incomes from the aircraft, the passengers and the tenants.

4. Business and General Aviation – Corporation and rich individuals may prefer to have their own private jets. It make business sense to use own jet for maximum flexibility and time efficiency.

5. Aviation Engineering – covers two sectors of manufacturing and maintenance. The manufacturing will include the research and production. The maintenance includes both for aircraft and the components.

So the aviation industry offers a wide opportunities for your career.
