2. INTRODUCTION
The person that formulate the schedules is known as flight scheduller.
The airline’s flight schedule will tell the passengers when the flight is available, its departure time, the day departure or arrival and also the type of aircraft flown.
A customer intending to fly from point A to B will check the flight schedule . He make the buying decision if the schedule suit his/her plan.
3. THE IMPORTANCE OF FLIGHT SCHEDULER Flight scheduler is an important job. This is because the flight timing will affect the number of passenger and the revenue directly. Passenger will choose the best schedule, looking at various factors, such as: The departure and arrival time The relative time compared to the competitors. The departure relate to the nature of travel.
4. FACTORS AFFECTING THE SCHEDULE The following are factors the affect the schedule: Passengers Demands Technical Aircraft availability Airport limitation Trade Agreement
5. FACTORS AFFECTING THE SCHEDULE -DEMANDS The passengers demand is one of the main factors. Demands can be seasonal, then the schedule need to meet the changing demands. Passenger may want to fly in the early morning.
6. MAIN ACTIVITIES … CONTINUATION Passengers’ reception – they play the host to the incoming passengers, welcome them and guide them to their seats. Predeparture – on pushback, the captain starts the engines, the cabin crews will do the demonstration on the use of safet equipments. The dinner is served when the flight stabilize in cruise mode. On landing at the destination, the cabin crew thanks the passengers and ensure that everyone go out. Then there is a check list to follow and a report to write.
7. TECHNICAL FACTORS AFFECTING SCHEDULE Aircraft performance Aircraft is affected by weather. In desert countries, departure is to be at night to avoid the hot day. Aircraft will have a lower take-off weight in hot weather.
8. AIRCRAFT AVAILABILITY Airlines want to maximize the flying hours of its fleet. However there are always a limit of available hours. Aircraft needs to be schedule for maintenance and repairs.
9. THE AIRPORT LIMITATION There are a number of limitation imposed by airports. The slot – that is the landing and take-off time planned for any airport. Busy airport like London Heathrow will be very strict on the slot. Curfew Hours. – some airport imposed a curfew hours. Take-off and landing can not be done between midnight to 6 am
